Hey guys! Wow, I haven't posted since Sunday the 11th.. I'm sorry! School and dance can be very time consuming, ugh. So, I'm fresh out of ideas for posts, so I'm going to do a Reader's Ramble of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs.

The fact that there is also photography in this book just makes it even cooler. It sets the tone of the book so well and gives you a great mental picture of the characters and setting. Some of the photographs were creepy, scary, and even beautiful.
Setting- THE SETTING IS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF THIS BOOK! As I was saying above, the setting/ time period is just amazing and really unique. The whole concept of the setting is so crazy and wonderful. Ransom Riggs is a genius. I'd tell you all about it but it would give a lot away. You have to read it to find out!
Theme- I'm not sure, honestly. I think I'm going to stop doing the theme section of these reviews, because I don't like thinking about it. I guess it could be not being afraid to be yourself, no matter how peculiar. And that some things are not always as they seem.
Characters- AMAZING! There are tons of characters, but you fall in love with every single one of them. I could name all the different children for you, but I won't. I'll just do the two main ones.
Jacob, our main character. He seemingly "goes crazy" after his beloved Grandfather mysteriously dies, and his therapist thinks a trip to the island his Grandfather always told him about. Jacob is pretty much a nobody at home, so he is more than happy to get out of his Tampa, Florida and have a little adventure while figuring out the mystery of his Grandfather's stories. Jacob is a very real character and I felt I was able to relate to him throughout the story. I loved Jacob.
Emma Bloom. I'd love to tell you who she is and her role in this story, but it would give away so much. Just know that she is also a wonderful character and I loved her. All of the characters were so great. They all had such courage in the book and they were all so unique in their own special way.

Cover- I love it! The cover is what actually made me interested in this book. I love how it's black and white and they use little Olive on the cover. It makes you think, "what the heck is this book about?" I think it fits the tone for the story very well.
Overall- This was a great and refreshing read, different from the usual YA Contemporary I usually read. It was really entertaining and so interesting. Ransom Riggs is a true genius and this book is a work of art. Other than the beginning being a little slow and some parts being a little confusing, I have no other negatives. This is one of the favorite books and I highly recommend you reading it. Once you really get into this book, it's impossible to put it down!

A mysterious island.An abandoned orphanage.Plot- Wow, the plot of this story really blew me away. This is the craziest, most peculiar story I've ever read. Yes, peculiar is the perfect word for this book. Everything about it is just that- peculiar. And well, amazing, interesting, exciting, suspenseful, and all that jazz. In this book, the main character takes a trip to an island his Grandfather always told him about, and it turns out his Grandfather was not crazy after all. The whole concept of this story is just so unique. I'd love to tell you all about it but it would give away everything. I loved the time period that this partly took place in, it's one of my favorite time periods. There is even a romance in this book! It is the perfect topping on the cake! The romance is a bit bizarre, but I still loved it. This story was a little slow in the beginning, but it starts to pick up quickly and once you're in, you're in for good. Some parts of this book were a little confusing although.

Dude, that book looks so cool! When I looked closely at the cover, I thought it looked kind of creepy... but then you elaborated on it and I thought AWESOME, this book looks neat! And photos? Very different. :) I think I'll have to look into reading this one... thanks for the review!
